Museo de Arte, Universidad San Francisco de Quito, Quito, Ecuador
As the 2011 artist-in-residence of Departamento de Artes Visuales at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Bogotá, Colombia, I expanded my exploration of laborers to include ongoing investigations of floricultural workers in Colombia and Ecuador titled Flores Para El Trueque. These investigations have resulted in multiple exhibitions in Bogotá and Quito.
This exploration opened at the Museo de Arte, Universidad San Francisco de Quito, Quito, Ecuador, in November 2021. Inspired by the narrative and composition of Ambrogio Lorenzetti’s three-panel fresco The Allegory of Good and Bad Government, 1339, this exhibition will include an eighty-foot mural portraying relationships between the urban floriculture industry in Quito and the rural floriculture workers and their community in Cayambe.
